e-mail Anna | Can anyone please help me understand how does the Telepass work? We got our residency parking permit and the yellow Telepass, but the guy didn't speak English, so we didn't understand exactly how it works. (And the contract is about 5 pages long, in Italian only). He took my credit card info and only said that I will get my invoice (faktura) by e-mail. The thing that concerns me is- every time we drive by the Punto Blu offices, the sign says to come to recharge your Telepass, I guess it's for a similar service... Any comments and observations will help. Thanks! | Oz_in_Tuscany replied on 05/11/2009 at 12:13 e-mail Oz_in_Tuscany | Hi there. Ours works in that we drive through the barrier without paying and at the end of the month it gets taken out of our bank account. It's very useful when travelling a lot but I find it difficult to keep track of how much they are / should be charging as I don't know the tolls.
Has anyone found a way to keep track? I've no idea why there would be the recharge your Telepass signs. Must have a look for them. Is it possible to have a top-up-able Telepass? That's news to me. |

| Correction! It's every 3 months, not every month. But you get the idea. | | Anna replied on 05/11/2009 at 12:22 e-mail Anna | | Great, thank you for the answers. I don't want to see the bill after 3 months, wow! Btw. the tolls are 20% more expensive since the beginning of this year. |
| toronto66 replied on 06/11/2009 at 19:42 e-mail toronto66 | Hi Anna,
Be careful that you're not getting 2 things mixed up. You need a Telepass to get into the ZTL with the appropriate resident parking permit. That same Telepass can also work on the highway but you have to have it activated. The ZTL part can be done at the Parterre in Piazza della Libertà but you need to sign up at the PuntoBlu on the highway for the highway access.
The second thing about the billing part (once you get the rest sorted out), While it's true that you receive a bill every 3 months, you can go to their website www.telepass.it , register and check out your charges every and any time you want.
Do check about the ZTL though because if it's not set up properly, you will receive a €72 fine for each access - don't sweat it though because you can go to the Vigili Urbani at the Cascine and have any tickets annulled.
I hope that helps ... been here 10 years and have learned alot |
