Golf with indoor pool for short break?

Hi,

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask but will give it a try, if any residents (or visitors) can help. I am looking for a place for a short break that has golf on site with a hotel or apartments with an indoor swimming pool. I have found a couple of places but they are hyper-expensive - 1,000 euro for 3 nights! Does anyone know anywhere that may be suitable? The idea is that Dad can play golf for a couple of days during his birthday weekend and me and my 4 year old could swim, see a few sights etc. We live half an hour south of Rome and don't really want to drive for more than around 3 hours to get there. If not with an indoor pool is there anywhere near to an aquapark open in winter, or other things that a four year old would enjoy? Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Alison

Hi Alison,

It's the right place to ask alright.

Where exactly did you want to go? Florence or just Tuscany in general?

Have a look at our Golf Club AngloFILE to see if you have missed any of the clubs with hotels:

Send an e-mail link on each listing.

Hi Emma,

Thanks for the reply. I have looked through the list on here and can't find exactly what I wanted. The sticking point is the indoor pool. Not essential but good to have especially if the weather is not good. But I think I may have to forget that part! I don't really mind where we go, as long as golf is on site (or very very close) and there are things within reasonable distance for me and my son to do when my husband is playing, or for us all to do if the weather is really bad. The Cosmopolitan club near Pisa and Livorno looks good (apart from lack of pool) and Pisa and Livorno would probably give us enough to do for the weekend. I wouldn't mind Florence, but I'm not sure there is a lot there for a 4 year old.

Thanks again

Alison

The area where the Cosmopolitan resort is (Tirrenia) has lots of other hotels around. Maybe you could find a hotel with a pool and day entry for your husband.

I met some people a while back who were in Florence for the weekend and staying in a hotel in the centre but the golf club picked them up every morning and left them back in the evening. That's another possibility.

Hi Alison.

Have you thought about the Grosseto area? There are a few clubs there and the Maremma is lovely (closer to you too). Punta Ala for a start. I'm nearby Tirennia and it's not bad but once you've seen the Tower once, there's not much else. Pisa is a sweet town and sometimes has nice markets but with a 4 year old you won't get much chance to enjoy them!

If you do come to Tirennia - check out the San Rossore Hotel for good deals (no indoor pool though) and if the weather's good you could go horse riding or explore the tenuta. Or Bagni di Pisa for a place with a pool.

If I can think of any more, I'll let you know. The indoor pool is, in fact, a difficult one. I'd never considered that before.
